It’s a parent’s nightmare made real.  Well, one of them, anyway.  Just imagine your young child, maybe as young as 2, getting bit by a snake when you weren’t watching.  But even worse, imagine your 2-year-old child playing with a snake in the grass and getting bit by a snake.  The word dangerous doesn’t really encompass it!  And here we have this nightmare made real, with a Turkish 2-year-old as a real story.  But this time, the nightmare doesn’t have quite the awful ending we would immediately imagine.  This time, the young child not only bites the snake back in response, she bites it to death!

EVERY PARENT’S NIGHTMARE,THIS SCARY SNAKE BITE STORY HAPPENED IN BINGOL, TURKEY

To be fair, snakes scare me, a lot.  As a kid, the line, why did it have to be snakes, in Raiders of the Lost Ark was easy to identify with.  Snakes are scary.  Having seen a 7-foot black snake only recently, the shudder is still going thru my body.  Sure, most snakes are essentially harmless to humans.  Well, beyond a bad bite, maybe.  But most aren’t venomous.  So far, we don’t know what kind of snake bit the young Turkish girl that she bit to death in reaction.  It happened in Bingol, Turkey about a week ago.

NEIGHBORS HEARD TURKISH GIRL SCREAMING, AND WERE STUNNED TO FIND SNAKE IN HER TEETH

Neighbors heard the young girl screaming and ran to see what was happening.  As soon as they arrived, they found the girl with snake bite wounds on her mouth.  That’s pretty scary.  But they also found the 20-inch snake dangling from her teeth!  Now that is survival instinct in action we should all want for our kids.  The neighbors quickly called for medical help and made sure the snake was, indeed, dead.  The 2-year-old Turkish girl stayed in the hospital for 24 hours for observation and was recovering well.  But I still shudder about how much worse this could have been!

Don’t forget, snakes bite between 4.5-5.4 million people every year!  And up to 138,000 of those bitten die.
