LA to Vegas High Speed Rail Train Is Officially Happening

AMERICA’S FIRST HIGH SPEED RAIL LINE CONNECTING LA TO VEGAS IT TOTALLY HAPPENING

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas has been totally true until now.  And now?  Now, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right up and until it goes back to LA via high speed rail.  That’s right, the United States is about to get its very first high speed rail line between the two cities.  Apparently, Los Angeles and Los Vegas are the two cities that need this very special, fast land-based travel option in America first.  Ground was broken today making this project a reality.  It will span 218 miles across the Mojave Desert.  The construction started today will hopefully be finished on time in the next 4 years.

HIGH SPEED RAIL WILL ONLY USE ALL-ELECTRIC, ZERO-EMISSION TRAINS THAT GO 200 MPH

And by LA, what it really means is a train station in the California town of Rancho Cucamonga to Vegas.  The construction project will be done by Brightline, which is the name you see on the train above.  And as exciting as America’s first high speed train line is, it gets even better with the news that this route will run “all-electric, zero-emission trains” that will go as fast as 200 miles per hour.  That means passengers will be able to get from Vegas to LA, or the reverse, in roughly 130 minutes.  I must say that’s better than driving home after losing your last Ben Franklin with a ton of free beer in your belly.

IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME AMERICA STEPPED UP TO HIGH SPEED RAIL IN A REAL WAY

Well, besides avoiding a DUI with no money in your pocket, it means travelers can go one way or the other about twice as fast as making the drive, or hazarding the extra hassles of airport transitions on both ends.  In part, the project happened because the Biden Administration helped fund it to the tune of $3 billion Federal dollars.  And the Federal sales pitch?  This train line will remove roughly 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide every year, increase tourism, and create 35,000 well-paying jobs.

Let’s hope this is just the start of the whole US getting high speed train infrastructure.  We’ve only talked about it for, well, decades, while Europe, Japan and China have left us in the slow rail dust.
