PornHub Blocks Utah Over Age Verification Requirement

NO PORNHUB FOR UTAH BECAUSE OF STATE’S AGE VERIFICATION REQUIREMENT, VPN NOW A MUST

I’ve never been to Utah, which makes me ignorant of the culture there, though I’ve happily consumed variously informed memes about Mormons and their history in the state.  But I’ve been to PornHub, because everyone has been to PornHub.  The internet is, after all, for Porn (some of you will ge that, though somehow it is already dated).  But lest I confuse the issue, this isn’t about Mormons, per se, and one of the biggest porn sites anywhere in the world.  But it is about Utah, and how people in Utah can no longer visit their favorite porn site (without a VPN) because of the state’s age verification requirement.

AGE VERIFICATION REQUIREMENT IS SUPPOSEDLY TO PROTECT KIDS FROM INDECENT MEDIA  EXPOSURE

That’s right!  PornHub has blocked the entire state from being able to load their site, and get their daily fill of whatever is (not likely) new step-sister or other porn category of content.  Utah, in their infinite wisdom, has decided (via their politicians) that no one can visit porn sites unless they satisfy an age requirement verification.  As in, verification.  It seems that simply saying you’re at least 18 years old won’t get you thru.  I guess it’s the menage a trois of trust but verify.  Which really means don’t trust.  And some people in Utah are freaking out about their regular media consummation, I mean consumption.

BUT AGE VERIFICATION ALSO MEANS UTAH PARENTS CAN SUE SITES LIKE PORNHUB FOR NON-COMPLIANCE

It seems that they really weren’t happy about going to the PornHub page only to find a video by actress Cherie DeVille, where she explains how Utah politicians are blocking residents’ good times and taking away their choices.  And, well, I get it.  No, not the lack of daily consummation.  That’s called marriage.  But the law requiring age verification also allows parents to sue any companies if they don’t comply.  And while litigious action can be a check on bad behavior, this time it feels like a way for conservative culture warriors to make a dime, take a mile and grandstand while doing so.

For whatever reason, PornHub doesn’t want to fund conservative culture warriors with their “hard” earned coin.  In the meantime, there’s a reason you see Utah far, far leading Google searches for VPN in the picture above.  LMAO.
