LONG ISLAND TEACHER GETS FIRED AFTER STOLEN TOPLESS SELFIE GOES PUBLIC
Ok, this is such utter bullshit. And it’s fairly local to me which makes it all worse, somehow. A 25-year-old teacher got fired after one of the students at her school got ahold of a topless picture of her. Sure, there’s a problem there. But it’s not hers. Or, at least, it shouldn’t be. The teacher is Lauren Miranda and she’s now about to sue the school district for gender discrimination. Man, if I was a lawyer, I’d love to close this one out. But that’s because I think she has a hell of a case. First, she was a victim when this topless selfie picture leaked to the public. She didn’t want it to be anything but private. Then, the school says she’s a bad role model and fires her. That made her a victim all over again.

HOW DID HER TOPLESS SELFIE END UP WITH A STUDENT IN HER SCHOOL?
So here’s where it gets ugly. Miranda did, indeed, take a topless selfie of herself. She gave it to another teacher in the district. But she was in a relationship with that teacher at the time. So that’s a totally private scenario.
She didn’t publish the picture. She didn’t give it to students. But she especially didn’t give it to this person she was dating thinking it would go anywhere else. But not only did it go somewhere else, it went to a student in her very school! See? That’s pretty ugly. But to make it uglier, Miranda seems to be, like, hot. She’s a hot teacher. And she’s relatively young. I think that also made her an easy target for someone who wanted to fire her anyway. The jumped at the first, public excuse.
REVENGE PORN VICTIM THEN FIRED FOR BEING BAD ROLE MODEL
So why is she suing the South Country Central School District? Miranda says they didn’t conduct a sufficient investigation. They simply told her she wasn’t a role model for students anymore and summarily fired her. So if the District can’t prove they did their due diligence first, they should be toast in her lawsuit. Miranda summed it up pretty nicely, saying, “What message is that saying to the girls who have their photos airdropped all over the high school and sent all over? What message are we sending to them? To roll over when your picture gets exposed without your permission or consent? So how am I now not being a role model to them?” She’s got a great point, don’t you think?

SHE DEMANDS EITHER HER JOB BACK, OR $3 MILLION
So the man she had dated and sent the photo to faced no penalties from school administrators. But isn’t that weird? He had the photo. But no one has asked him how it got to a student in Miranda’s school. So there’s something pretty unequal going on here. But even better? Pictures of male teachers with barre upper bodies aren’t a problem. So that, there, is gender discrimination. So Miranda is demanding that the District reinstate her as a math teacher. But if they refuse, she demands $3 million in damages and monies to cover her legal fees. Personally, I think Miranda is an open and shut case of revenge porn. But it’s obvious! So go rake them over the coals in court, Miranda!
