RHODE ISLAND 7TH GRADERS IGNORED BY SCHOOL, MADE DISCORD SUBCHANNEL FOR CREEP TEACHER
I remember 7th grade, and not all that fondly. At that age, everything starts to be dramatic, especially if you don’t love your main teacher. But to be fair, I had a good teacher in 7th grade. I didn’t like her much, but she did her job properly, if not enjoyably. But what if she had been a creep, as in creepy? What if she made inappropriate comments that made us very uncomfortable? We’d only be able to tell our parents or another teacher and hope they took action. But a class of 7th graders in North Kingston, Rhode Island had a creep teacher, and no one would help. So what did they do? They created a Discord database to track the teacher’s behavior.
8 BOYS MADE “PEDO DATABASE” ON DISCORD, TRACKED CREEP TEACHER’S EVERY VILE MOVE
Discord, if you didn’t know, is an app that lets you message other people. You can create subchannels with particular people and organize them by topics or the groups using it. And 8 boys were involved in documenting the creep teachers creepy behavior with girl students, live as it happened on Discord. They called it “Pedo Database.” One girl student’s family made official complaints to the Superintendent and were ignored. It wasn’t until they sought a restraining order that school officials placed the creep teacher Aaron Thomas on leave and launched an investigation into the allegations. Finally.
SCHOOL OFFICIALS IGNORED CREEP TEACHER’S BEHAVIOR FOR YEARS, DISCORD BOYS ARE HEROES
And that’s where the Pedo Database on the Discord subchannel becomes damning evidence. Every single inappropriate thing the creep teacher did is documented there, and it is damning. When one of the boys’ mothers mentioned the investigation to him and how students were being asked to come forward with information, he produced the Pedo Database. And in late April of this year, the creep teacher was escorted out of the school. But this is after years of school officials ignoring allegations, to the degree that the creep teacher told students no one could touch him after 30 years.
And yes, no one could touch him is an awkward turn of phrase in this scenario.
