The latest stamp design is out! Apple’s late co-founder, Steve Jobs, will be one of several people appearing on postage stamps next year, as well as some hot babes…
The Washington Post reported on Thursday that Jobs will join musician James Brown, television host Johnny Carson and the cast of “Sesame Street” on stamps set to be issued in 2015. The U.S. Postal Service also plans to reissue a 23-cent stamp from 1993 commemorating Elvis Presley.
The Post reported the news based on a “top secret” list that detailed the commemorative stamps the Postal Service plans to issue over the next several years.
Postage stamp designs are usually kept a secret. Commemorative stamp artwork is usually unveiled a short time before the stamps themselves are available to the public. The Postal Service has not commented on the Post report or the leaked list.
The financially challenged agency recently broke from its tradition of putting only individuals of historical or literary importance on stamps as it tries to lure a younger generation into stamp collecting.
The Steve Jobs stamp was reportedly “in design” on the list obtained published by the Post, meaning no artwork for the stamp has been finalized or officially approved by the agency.
Jobs, who co-founded Apple Computer, Inc. in the late 1970s with business partner Steve Wozniak, resigned from the company in the early 1980s following a contentious boardroom confrontation. He went on to found NeXT Computer, which was sold to Apple in the late 1990s.
Jobs returned to Apple in mid-1997 on an interim basis, only to become the company’s chief executive officer a year later. He is credited with helping turn the company around from the brink of insolvency, creating a mountain of wealth for Apple by successfully marketing the iMac computer, the iPod music player, the iPhone and the iPad.
Jobs resigned from Apple in August 2011. He died from pancreatic cancer two months later.
