SAD AND STUPID, AS COVID-19 INFECTIONS NOW REACH EVERY LAST CONTINENT, EVEN ANTARCTICA
So what the hell, 2020? You couldn’t just let this one go? Really? Because before the year is out, we have some absolutely pervasive pandemic facts to add to the pile. Because 6 wasn’t enough. Shoot, if we had 8, maybe that would be enough? But alas, we will have to make do with 7, because that’s how many continents we have on the planet. And now, we know that Covid infections are now on ALL 7 continents on planet Earth. Because somehow, Antarctica has Covid, too. Hey people, we’re talking about the damn South Pole, here. Where there really aren’t many people, like ever? But now, we have Covid infections there?

NOW EVEN THE SOUTH POLE, WITH ALMOST NO PEOPLE AT ALL, ALSO HAS COVID?
So how the hell did that happen? And no, I don’t cast that line out looking for pithy replies. But seriously, Antarctica does NOT have much traffic in terms of people coming and going. And even more, weather often dictates no travel times at all. So given that there aren’t a lot of people there, not many people coming from or going to there, how is Covid in the South Pole? So think about it. You need to quarantine for two weeks? Should be no problem down there. You need contact tracing? That should be even easier! But no, the pandemic is now on every major land mass on Earth.

YES, IT WAS A SOUTH POLE RESEARCH BASE, BUT NO, IT WAS THE USUAL STUPID SUSPECTS
So who has it in Antarctica? Well, people at a research base. Where else? 36 people working at the bottom of the planet at the General Bernardo O’Higgins Riquelme research base have Covid infections. So the Chilean base has ruined what had been a fun idea, that the South Pole was the safest place to be. It was a meme and everything three months ago! But when you break down the people in the group more, you can figure out what happened. Military and maintenance. So yes, over 24 military and the rest maintenance workers are the ones who have Covid. Not actual researchers or scientists.
Fortunately, they moved quickly. All those with Covid evacuated back to isolation in Chile, to Punta Arenas. Hopefully, this will spell the end of the South Pole outbreak. Now, I’m gonna go find me a classic to watch. The original The Thing. Or, maybe, some new hotness, White Out.
