Rush Limbaugh's 'Uncle Tom' Comment Confirms He's Batshit Crazy

You know who’s crazy? Rush Limbaugh. Rush Limbaugh is completely batshit, completely.

Take this most recent example:

Earlier this week Mayor Rob Ford body double and known painkiller addict Rush Limbaugh made headlines for calling black voters in Mississippi “Uncle Tom voters.”

What got Rush’s sizable panties in a bunch was the win of Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran over Tea Party-backed state Sen. Chris McDaniel, who was angling for Cochran’s job, in the Republican primaries. Opponents of McDaniel say that in a last-ditch effort to beat his challenger, Cochran’s camp created and distributed a flier accusing McDaniel of racism. Critics say he then sent it around to black voters, and it worked: Black voters came out in droves to support him.

Cochran denies knowing anything about the campaign flier.

It is completely understandable that McDaniel lost because a sizable number of Democrats showed up to vote against him in the primaries. In fact, it is very likely that Democrats in Mississippi understand that they will not have a Democratic senator in this or any foreseeable election. Choosing between the lesser of two evils, they backed Cochran, rather than a far-right Tea Party candidate.

Whether or not a sizable number of black voters came out to vote against McDaniel because of a semi-official flier distributed in waning days of the campaign is simply a matter of conjecture.

However, sheer speculation is enough for Rush, and it was all just a little too much for him to take. On his radio show, he let loose on the airwaves with the following tirade:

“I wonder what the campaign slogan in Mississippi was over the last couple of days, ‘Uncle Tom’s for Thad?'”

“I thought it was the worst thing you could do as an African American to vote for a Republican… but somehow they were made to believe that voting for old Thad would be fine and dandy,” he said. “They were told that Thad’s done a lot for black people in Mississippi — it must be the first time they were told that.”

“Insider Republicans bought eight or nine percentage points from the black Uncle Tom voters in Mississippi.”

A video clip posted on YouTube with the audio is featured below. When I first watched it, there was a Mountain Dew advertisement at the beginning of the clip.

Because Rush Limbaugh fans must love the shit out of some Mountain Dew … and NASCAR.

This is example enough that we do not pay attention to Rush’s crazy racist rantings and tirades, and it is a shame.

Because they are epically crazy.

They are also scary.

Rush makes it into the mainstream press, maybe once or twice a year. He either says something stupid or gets caught abusing prescription painkillers, and the rest of America is reminded that he exists. We then forget about him for another couple of months, but then, he pops up again.

But, Rush is always there. For three hours a day for five days per week, he fills the airwaves with his blustery, lucrative brand of hot air, and people listen.

My God do they listen.

Talker’s magazine says that Rush has a bigger listenership than any other talk radio host in the nation, saying that he attracts more than 15 million listeners per week.

And spewing so much hatred and seething vitriol crazy is lucrative.

Rush has a contract worth $400 million, and it extends into 2016. Also, he has been on the air since 1980-something, so he is the highest paid radio person ever.

He is the Joseph Goebbels of the Republican Party, the hype man who foments the base into a seething frothy mass of right-wing conservatism and patriotic blue collar stupor. Ronald Reagan once sent Rush a letter praising him and calling, “The Number One voice for conservatism in our Country.”

Oh, the Gipper.
