KEVIN DURANT ACHILLES INJURY WILL RESHAPE ALL OF THE NBA FOR YEARS TO COME
So if you’re an NBA fan, you already know about the Kevin Durant injury. Well, the latest one. But it’s devastating, no matter what we know now. And more information will come out all too soon. So what happened? Durant came back to play in the NBA Finals Game 5 matchup, playing for the Golden State Warriors against the Toronto Raptors. It was his first appearance in the Finals as he recovered from a calf injury. But his Finals debut started perfectly. He had 11 points in 12 minutes of game action. But then he went down with a new injury in the 2nd quarter. He clearly knew something was very wrong, instantly. So did everyone else. But as devastating as it was for Durant and his team, this new injury will affect the entire league for years to come.

DURANT MAY MISS NBA ACTION FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR AS HE ENTERS FREE AGENCY
So if you didn’t watch the game, Durant simply planted strong, dancing with the ball while a defender hounded him. But then he coughed up the ball and immediately collapsed to the floor, seemingly holding that questionable calf. Unfortunately, this isn’t a calf injury, or re-injury. It’s his Achilles Heel. So far, we don’t know how bad it is. But Durant is out for the rest of this series and may miss basketball action for most or all of next season. So why will this affect the league for years to come?

WHO GETS DRAFTED, WHO GETS TRADED, FREE AGENCY ALL TO CHANGE SHAPE LEAGUE WIDE
Well, it’s simple, really. Kevin Durant is a free agent. The entire league has been scheming to figure out a way to get him to sign with their respective teams. The notable possibilities were (and maybe still are) the NY Knicks, the Brooklyn Nets, the LA Lakers/Clippers and… everyone? But even more, Durant’s name has been linked to several other notable free agents, the least of whom are Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis as well as his current opponent, Kawhi Leonard. But now everyone’s plans have gone up in smoke. Every other free agent and every single draft prospect, with the exception of the to three picks, will have their futures changed by this injury.
So this is going to be high theater and will affect every single NBA team, either in context or in total roster makeups. Bang. Zoom.
