FASHION BOWS TO TECH, AS DYSON ANNOUNCES NOISE CANCELLING HEADPHONES W/AIR PURIFIER
So I sometimes really regret my creative humor. Especially when it comes to timing, which is mixed here. When the pandemic began and no one could find masks anywhere, it was galling. Well, and just a tad stressful. That situation continued a little longer than the weeks when toilet paper was the most coveted item not on any store shelves. But masks? You couldn’t get them, and then suddenly they were everywhere in the supply chain. Then some fancy ones came out, for a price. So I joked, “when is Dyson gonna release theirs?” You know, expensive, creative and over the top? I should have known better. Because Dyson announced their noise cancelling headphones that include a wearable air purifier.

GET IN THE ZONE HEADPHONES FOR A BREATH OF FRESH AIR AND YOUR FAVORITE TUNES?
Yes, as in a mask. But a mask doesn’t tend to do what this does. Dyson calls them the Zone headphones. We still have no idea how much they will cost, how long the battery takes to die, or even how much they weigh. Because that’s siting on your head and your face, right? So my joke about Dyson and pandemic masks was early. But it was also a little late. While these still aren’t on the market yet, Dyson started thinking about and developing the air purifier as noise cancelling headphones back in 2016! Just imagine their chagrin to miss the window of the Covid pandemic’s early days and months.

ZONE HEADPHONES WOULD HAVE MADE A KILLING WHEN THE PANDEMIC STARTED, BIG TIME
Seriously, think about it. Who wouldn’t have bought these at any price out of sheer, desperate panic in the first half of 2020? And yes, I’m only guessing that these would protect you from airborne disease like Covid. But then? I might have balked at the price. But my older family would have ordered them for everyone just because. The noise cancelling headphones would just have been a bonus. Dyson did say that the filters only have to be replaced once a year. Which is crazy, considering their vacuums are so strong you have to do that every day.
We’ll just have to wait till the end of 2022 to see what technophiles say about the Zone headphones when they come out.
