CONSERVATIVE TEXAS REPRESENTATIVE RONNY JACKSON BRUTALIZED BY POLICE AT RODEO
Well. I’m not sure where to begin in describing the fact that Texas Republican Representative Ronny Jackson was brutalized by police at a rodeo in the Lone Star state. Jackson, you may remember, is a notable far rightwing political figure. He led the White House medical division when he served as Physician to the President for both Obama and Trump. But under Trump, he became controversial for lying about Trump’s official weight (to be one pound shy of formal obesity), and was accused of drinking alcohol and taking Ambien while on the job. Oh, and for allegedly making rude comments about a colleague’s breasts and bottom on a Presidential trip overseas.

RONNY JACKSON WAS ACTUALLY BEING A HERO, BUT BAD POLICE BEHAVIOR DIDN’T CARE
So that’s a quick run down memory lane about Ronny Jackson. Now as to his getting brutalized by police, I’ll simply relay the facts as we know them and let you do the very heavy lifting in terms of unpacking the many levels of irony. Earlier this week, Jackson attended a rodeo in his Amarillo, Texas district when a teenage girl went into diabetic shock. To give credit where credit is due, Ronny Jackson as a doctor quickly went to help the girl’s parents try to revive her. So far, so good. But then the police showed up and screamed for Jackson and the girl’s parents to back away from her.

And it didn’t get better from there. One of the cops then screamed abuse at Jackson, tackled him to the ground and aggressively handcuffed him. No, I don’t care that you’re a doctor and I don’t care who you are. It’s almost like Ronny Jackson was African-American for a moment. But sure enough, as soon as the cops realized who they had brutalized, they quickly took the handcuffs off and started the inevitable desperate apologies. But because Ronny Jackson being a far-right political (and media) figure, his office hasn’t commented on the incident at all.
Well, except to be sure to announce that he wasn’t drinking at all at the rodeo. I’ll let you proceed to do some unpacking of this rather unfortunate example of bad cops brutalizing a sitting U.S. (allegedly sober) congressman.
