Survival Guide is the newest project of Emily Whitehurst, former singer for the California punk band Tsunami Bomb (in which she was known as Agent M). A prolific artist, Whitehurst has also fronted the group The Action Design and made guest appearances with punk bands Guttermouth and MxPx. (Fun fact: Whitehurst sang with MxPx on a cover of Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven Is a Place on Earth.”)
With Survival Guide, Whitehurst embraces electronic dance textures. TheBlot Magazine spoke to her about her winding career and asked if electro-pop is the new punk.
