STRANGE! MALE VIRGINITY RATES RISE UP, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHY
So virginity is a complicated situation. Even after you’ve lost yours, it’s still a thing. Well, not yours. But you know what I’m talking about. Men being virgins for too long used to be a total negative. And women? Well, depending where you live now, some people seem to think that women should be virgins forever. MEN AND WOMEN IN THEIR 20’S HAD VIRGIN EQUALITY, BUT NOW MALE VIRGINITY TAKES THE LEAD
So the University of Chicago’s General Social Survey is where these numbers are coming from. They found that roughly 27% of men under 30 have never had sex. As in, virgins. A lot of them. With XY chromosomes. It’s a lot to take in. But it looks like this has been a growing issue of late, changing the rates of the last 30 years. Because for most of the last 3 decades, both men and women in their 20’s have claimed a similar rate of virgin status. But recently, the male virginity rate has gone way up. As in, 3 times more men have never had sex at this age.

SO WHAT’S UP WITH MALE VIRGINITY RATES? IS IT PORN? FACEBOOK? OR POLLUTION?
So what about the women and their virginity rate increase? It’s only gone up 8%. So something is definitely going on. And no, I’m not saying this is about incel, or that weird subculture of virgin (well, probably virgin) men who have issues with women. And no, I doubt it has much to do with inappropriate men’s behavior getting vilified more either. So what is going on, here? I’d hazard a guess that it’s social media, video games and virtual life in general. I’d like to blame Facebook. But that would be too easy.
