Black Panther Role Pushed Michael B Jordan into Therapy

AFTER BACK PANTHER, MICHAEL B JORDAN WENT FOR THERAPY

So this is pretty interesting.  Michael B Jordan is the actor who you’ve likely seen in any number of roles the past three years.  But you definitely remember him as the vaguely sympathetic villain in Marvel’s Black Panther film.  But playing a villain isn’t always great for your mental health.  Just ask Heath Ledger.  Well, actually…. You get the idea.  So Jordan recently appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show and talked about his healthy maintenance after the movie wrapped up.  He wasn’t feeling too hot about where his head went after he did such a great job being the villain.  So he did some therapy to get his head right again.

JORDAN TOLD OPRAH EVERYONE NEEDS TO UNPACK AND TALK

He told Oprah, “Everyone needs to unpack and talk.”  Truer words are hard to find.  But many people don’t want to talk about needing maintenance therapy.  But Jordan does his fans a solid by being so open about the process.  To prepare for his role, he told Oprah that he dug into “pain and rage and all those emotions … from being black and brown here in America.”  His character was Erik Killmonger, who had some issues.  Jordan describe the movie as “an extreme, exaggerated version of the African diaspora from the African-American perspective.  That was something I didn’t take lightly.”  That’s probably why his head went to some uncomfortable places.

LET’S HOPE JORDAN CAN HAPPILY REPRISE HIS DARK ROLE!

He said that he “-shut out love” in preparation for the movie.  That’s what he thought his character would do, isolated emotionally from everyone since his childhood.  But getting back to his own normal mindset was a challenge.  Jordan said that he found that he wanted to stay in that lonely place.  But he knew that wasn’t healthy.  So therapy was the solution.  He said, “As a man you get a lot of slack for [going to therapy]” but that “everyone needs to unpack and talk.”  So keep your head on straight, Jordan!  We need you to reprise your dark role, yet again.
