FRIENDLY CAPUCHIN MONKEY SUDDENLY APPEARS ON KENTUCKY MAN’S PORCH
So monkeys are pretty cool. Except, well, when they’re not. They can be violent and aggressive. And totally acquisitive. But they can also be really cute and friendly, especially capuchin monkeys. But capuchin monkeys are not from Kentucky, and don’t live there outside of a sanctuary or zoo. So one man in Owen County, Kentucky knew something was a little strange when he looked out and saw a monkey on his porch. His porch! In Kentucky! That’s the kind of thing that makes you wonder just how much hooch you put in your coffee. Clearly, too much.
KENTUCKY MAN WASN’T HALLUCINATING, AND VISITING FAMILY SAW CAPUCHIN MONKEY FOR REAL
Except alcoholic coffee was not at play here. The Kentucky man was not hallucinating, or having a flashback. That was indeed a capuchin monkey staring back at him from his porch. So he told his son and granddaughter. But for some reason they didn’t believe him. Well, fair enough. But when they came over they could see the capuchin monkey looking back at them thru the window for themselves. He even ran up to get a better look at them! The man’s granddaughter quickly made friends with the only year old capuchin monkey.
AFTER BONDING WITH MAN’S GRANDDAUGHTER, CAPUCHIN MONKEY NOW RESIDES AT PRIMATE RESCUE CENTER
After the family started leaving food out on the porch for the little primate, it was practically an adoption, with the capuchin clinging to the little girl. She said he was super friendly. But of course the monkey couldn’t stay there. He’s now a resident at a Kentucky primate rescue center. He was wearing a collar when he first appeared, but with no tags or ID. To date, the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Department is at a total loss where the little friendly capuchin monkey came from.
Now, I’ve got to digest the fact that Kentucky needs a primate rescue center. Is there one in every state? SMDH.
