2 ART PROPS, SCULPTURES STOLEN FROM THE VERMONT SET OF BEETLEJUICE 2
I must say that I have been pretty excited ever since the news hit that there was going to be a sequel to the now classic, Beetlejuice. If you don’t know who the ghost with the most is, you should check it out. But I’m a little sad to hear that Beetlejuice 2 is back in the news, and not to confirm that the recent industry strike isn’t delaying its production. Instead, there’s news that a 150lb sculpture (pictured above, courtesy of the Vermont State Police) and another funky art piece were stolen from the production’s East Corinth, Vermont set on July 14th.

WITH A BLACK MARKET SALE UNLIKELY, IT MUST HAVE BEEN NAUGHTY BEETLJUICE FANS
But I must say that I kind of get it, though I’m not morally flexible enough as a fan to ever have considered doing something like this myself. I mean, it’s not like this is the kind of art you can fence to an illicit buyer. It’s the kind of thing that ends up in your, say, frat house or man-cave barn set up. And while that would be cool, it’s not a cool thing to do. Regardless, if you are already a fan, you know that the large sculpture in the picture above looks a lot like one from the original movie. But we don’t even know if it’s the same one or not.

BEETLEJUICE 2 PRODUCTION IS ON HOLD WHILE SAG-AFTRA STRIKE RUNS ITS COURSE
Vermont police are asking for help locating the missing art props (aka sculptures). But I have some serious doubts that these things will turn up anytime soon, if ever. Unless, of course, someone snitches from the perpetrator’s circle of friends. So where does Beetlejuice 2 stand now? The production started back in May. But filming is, of course, shut down now because of the SAG-AFTRA strike. That’s a whole other can of worms compared to thefts from the movie’s Vermont set. But hopefully, the strike will be resolved soon, and we’ll be that much closer to seeing the ghost with the most reprise his afterlife humor.
Beetlejuice 2 stars Catherine O’Hara, Wynona Rider, and Michael Keaton, plus newcomers Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe.
