BANSKY POKES THE BEAR WITH NEW PIECE SHOWING A JUDGE BEATING A PROTESTOR WITH GAVEL
PLUS, BANSKY PUT HIS NEW PIECE DE RESISTANCE ON LONDON’S VERY OWN ROYAL COURTS OF JUSTICE
And yes, that judge is indeed wearing an official legal wig, and this new work of art is in England. But as incendiary as the image is, where Bansky placed it is not just noteworthy, it’s almost the whole point. It’s literally on London’s Royal Courts of Justice itself. And if you weren’t aware, London is one of the most heavily surveilled cities in the entire world. And this incredibly important legal building is, of course, heavily monitored with CCTV cameras all over and around. But not only did that not deter Bansky, it’s almost the whole point of choosing the site for his installation. His new work is directly under a CCTV camera.

BANSKY WANTS TO HIGHLIGHT ENGLAND’S PROSECUTION OF GAZA WAR PROTESTORS AS TERRORISTS
Now, you might be asking why Bansky chose to show a judge beating a protestor with a gavel on the Royal Courts of Justice building itself. I don’t think (and nobody else does, either) it’s not safe to assume it’s because of how England has recently started charging protestors of Israel’s war in Gaza (aka genocide in Gaza, starvation in Gaza, mass displacement in Gaza, crimes agains humanity in Gaza, etc.) as terrorists. Yes, In England now if you protest what’s happening in Gaza you will get charged as a terrorist. So that gavel the judge is beating the bloody protestor with is a tool of silencing and censorship.
Clearly, Banksy wants us all to talk about this for some reason. I’m all for it. Also as you might imagine, the powers that be in England are none too pleased. This latest Bansky work is now covered in plastic and corrugate metal barriers. And yet here we are talking about it. And them.
