VICTOR WEMBANYAMA AIMS TO “DISAPPEAR” FROM MEDIA AFTER BRITNEY SPEARS DRAMA, DEBUT
If you have heard of the sport, basketball, you have inevitably heard of a French 19-year-old prodigy, Victor Wembanyama. He is 7’3” tall, weighs 209 pounds, and was the #1 overall 2023 pick by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Draft. That’s a small market team, but the buzz surrounding young ‘Wemby” snowballed as his summer league debut loomed. His first and only two games this summer were mixed. His first game was “disappointing” according to copy filler critics. But his 2nd game was all that you want from a #1 pick and more. But the Spurs shut him down, both to give him a break from the drama and to make sure the spindly kid doesn’t suffer injury like 2 other of his Top 10 pick peers.

THE VERY DAY BEFORE WEMBANYAMA’S FIRST NBA GAME, MAJOR DRAMA WITH BRITNEY SPEARS
And by drama I mean the kind of drama like Britney Spears grabbing young Wembanyama from behind as he walked into a restaurant surrounded by his security detail. Britney claims she tapped him on the shoulder (which she can’t even reach). Wemby didn’t even know it was her until hours later, and made it clear that someone grabbed him, his security removed her arm, and he kept walking straight to avoid a crowd gathering around him (as he was told to do). But Britney claimed loud and proud that one of his security team backhanded her in the face. She even made an official complaint to the police!

Fortunately, the whole thing was on video and police found nothing wrong with security removing her hand from their charge, though that removal caused her hand to smack into her own face. But yes, that’s kind of major drama for any 19-year-old, regardless of how mature they are. And, it’s worth noting that the Britneygate event happened the day before Wemby’s first, poor game showing. Fortunately, he satisfied many naysayers with his 2nd amazing game performance. Wembanyama has said he plans to disappear from the media eye for the next couple months so he can finally get to work preparing for his rookie NBA season.
I’m a fan, so I’m hoping there’s nothing for me to follow up on until October at the earliest.
