PEEPING TOM DRONE SPIES ON SUNBATHING MOTHER AND DAUGHTER

Well, that was inevitable.  Let’s all be honest.  Isn’t this like, totally expected news?  Even if you think you are in the privacy of your own property, your privacy is always in question.  23-year-old Morgaine Halligan (and yes, just her name sounds hot) was sunbathing in her backyard with her mother.  Let’s make that her fenced-off back yard.  She was in the privacy of her own property.  No one could see them from the ground.  Until now, that meant no one could see them at all, barring really bored spy satellite operators.  But now, any Peeping Tom with enough money for a drone can spy on anyone in their backyard, fences, walls or not.  Getting spied on by a peeping Tom Drone is now a reality.

FAMILY SPOOKED, FEEL VIOLATED AT INTRUSION

The drone showed up at about 7:30 pm that day.  It hung around, literally, watching them for about half an hour.  Creepy much?  According to Halligan, “I was changing in a fenced-off backyard; when I finished I looked up and saw a drone.  My mum was in her bikini in our private area also. It hovered above us for another 15 minutes. It is just creepy as you don’t know what the purpose may be.  We are worried now. When I come around to my mum’s house we spend a lot of time outside, and now we don’t know if a drone will be there. It kept going low into peoples’ properties, creeping down driveways.”

DRONE A LECH? OR CASING PROPERTIES TO ROB?

We all know what the purpose may be.  It was a Peeping Tom at best, a burglar, casing properties at worst.  Let’s hope.  But it’s bad enough.  Drones have high definition video cameras.  It used to be you’d go to a nude beach and sometimes the danger would be someone taking pictures with a telephoto lens from a distance.  But now, you can be anywhere that used to be secure in the open air and be viewed, photographed and victimized online Potentially.  But Halligan is not happy.  Who can blame her?  “It is a private area – there should be repercussions.  They can’t just go in and film in people’s backyards. I don’t want myself filmed getting changed in the backyard. It is not right.”

SPYING PEEPING TOM DRONE A CRIME, BUT HOW TO CATCH THE LECHEROUS PILOT?

Many residents in her neighborhood contacted the police.  They were then referred to the Civil Aviation Authority.  Their rules are pretty straightforward.  The law strictly prohibits drones flying near homes without.  So if you’re grabbing some sun, keep a look out, and up, for peeping tom drones.  Sunbathing is a fundamental right!  Especially after this long winter.  What we need are neighborhood drone jammers.  So much for cell service!
