SIR ELTON JOHN REMOVED FROM MUM’S WILL RIGHT BEFORE HER DEATH
Did you know that Sir Elton John wasn’t as close to his mum as we would have thought? Elton’s mother, Sheila Farebrother, died last December at the age of 92. But she changed her last will and testament only 24 days before she died. What changed? Well, she took Elton out of her will, for the most part. Crazy, right? Her estate was a sizable 534,000 quid. That’s roughly three quarters of a million US dollars. So who got the money?
It was split in two halves. One half went to a man, Bob Halley. He’s a former PA and chauffeur. The other half went to Elton’s half brother Frederick Farebrother and her friend Deborah Woodward.
MUM THOUGHT ELTON’S HUSBAND HAD CLOSE FRIEND FIRED
So what did Elton get? The renowned singer got two urns and family pictures. That’s kind of an ouch from beyond the grave. So what happened? Back in 2008 Halley resigned from his professional role with the family. Elton’s mum thought it he had been fired. But why the upset? Well, she thought Elton’s husband David Furnish was behind the axe falling. Who knows what really happened? But don’t feel too bad for Sir Elton.
He’s worth a pair penny, so losing out on her liquid estate won’t hurt him financially. But what about the emotional sting? One source told media, “Sir Elton is worth £300m, but it’s not the money that matters. It very much looks like Sheila was determined to make one final point to her son in her will.”
MUM GAVE LAST MESSAGE AS SHE APPROACHED ST. PETER, OUCH
Before her death, Elton’s mum said that Halley had been “like a son” so her. But Elton’s circle says that Halley chose to leave on his own. Elton has spoken of the strife with his mother over the years. But he says they did finally reconcile after some time. But it wasn’t easy. Back in 2016, Elton said, “When she says things in the press like, ‘I haven’t spoken to Elton since he married that f**king a**hole David Furnish‘, that was pretty hard to take. I don’t hate my mother… but I don’t want her in my life.” That’s kind of an ouch statement on the record. It seems his mum read the small print. But he was graceful as after hit mother’s funeral. “Thank you for bringing me into the world and for all that you have done for me.”
