PLOGGERS AND NOT JUST JOGGERS, BUT MUCH MUCH MORE
The newest and coolest trend in fitness is something called ‘plogging’. It’s basically running with a catch. You’ve got to pick up trash on your running journey. The plo in plogging comes from the Swedish word ‘plocka upp’ which means pick up in Swedish. Plogging became very popular in Sweden and has since become very trendy everywhere else, mostly due to the many Instagram photos of people plogging. It’s quite the new twist.
THE PLOGGING TWIST IS GREAT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
This new and enticing sport has many benefits. And really goes beyond the runner’s high. People feel good about keeping fit and even better about living in a cleaner place. People burn a lot of calories by running and bending over to pick up trash. It’s a high cardio workout with interval training. FITNESS ENTHUSIASTS ARE LOVING IT AND WANTING MORE
It’s best when plogging to bring your own trash bag. Otherwise you will need to resort to some foul storage. Or make your storage foul. Like putting dirty garbage in your pants. Which isn’t really the best choice, especially since you may not know where or what happened to that plastic you’re picking up off the ground. It may be gross. But ploggers across the globe are seeing the real benefits to this fitness craze. They are loving it and posting about it. Some people have been doing this particular sport for years, not realizing that there is an actual name for it. Some of the garbage that gets picked up are cigarette butts, styrofoam containers, and plastic bottles.
CREATE AN EVENT NEARBY AND PLOG AWAY
Sweden has a fitness app called Lifesum which helps these athletes tracks their workout and their trash. The trend became popular via Instagram and word of mouth. Some ploggers organize plogging events, which entails people hanging out and working out together, while picking up garbage. So it’s all a win-win situation trying this fitness trend with a twist.
