POLICE IN ENGLAND NAB BOY WITH DISGUISED IPHONE THAT WAS ACTUALLY A TASER
I usually love technology news. Especially exciting news about new iPhone features. I tend to find that to be electrifying, the newer and more powerful the better. But sometimes there are exceptions, and this would definitely top the exception list for me. Frankly, I’m shocked this is news I’ve never heard or even considered the possibility of, before. But shocked is definitely the operative word here. UK police recently found an iPhone on a local boy that is more than noteworthy. It’s not a regular iPhone, in any way but shape and form. This iPhone was actually disguised and was really a Taser.

AT A GLANCE, TASER LOOKS INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM EVERYONE’S FAVORITE APPLE DEVICE
Police caught the boy in Sutton Coldfield, England. After police realized his iPhone wasn’t actually an iPhone but was really a Taser, they arrested him on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. In a policing update, police explained that what looked to be an iPhone proved to be a Taser when an officer pressed a button on its side. A photo of the device shows how at a glance, the object was indistinguishable from a real iPhone. One officer remarked, “I must confess that I’d never heard of a taser phone case before.”

TASERS AS CELL PHONES SOLD IN THE U.S. BUT ARE ILLEGAL IN ENGLAND, WITH STIFF SENTENCES
In England, possession of a non-lethal taser is a criminal offense which can carry a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison. But that’s not the case here in the United States, where local laws vary greatly. In fact, Tasers disguised to look like an iPhone were developed here, and are marketed to combat muggings or defend from other types of personal assault. And they pack quite the punch, delivering up to 650,000 volts of electricity. Organized gangs have taken to smuggling them into England for possible nefarious use.
Also of note is how you can buy an iPhone case in the U.S. that also serves as a Taser. Scary stuff!
