MISSOURI REPUBLICAN PRIMARY CANDIDATE PLANNED TO PLANT COCAINE ON HIS OPPONENT
I’ve never been to the state of Missouri, and I don’t even think I’ve accidentally had a flight connect there either. And while I’ve been to over a dozen politically red states and would again, I’m not so sure about going to this one. And yes, it’s Red through and through, with all the main elected state officials being as Republican as it gets. But it seems that it’s so red that it has left some of those republicans rabidly competitive to such a degree that they’re now eating their own. While that’s true in general with the backlash Trump’s policies are having at different American regions, that’s not what happened in this instance. While I’d like to, I don’t have the background info (yet?) to blame Trump for on Republican candidate trying to plant cocaine on his Republican opponent.

It seems cliche and totally unlikely. But it was only unlikely until it became a decided reality because of Thomas Ross, who narrowly won the primary for Missouri’s 161st District State Representative seat by 32 votes over is opponent, Republican Louise Secker. That’s Ross on the left and Secker on the right pictured above. Ross, it seems, wanted to do any and everything he could do to win. But that included his attempting to plant both cocaine and Adderall in his opponent’s car and purse. His mistake? Sending text messages to his former campaign manager talking about finding the right opportunity to plant the drugs.

But his former campaign manager was clearly worried about his own legal blowback in such a scheme, and told the FBI about it. A bit later, he ended up talking about the scheme in person with Ross at the latter’s home. And, of course, he was wearing a wire to record that conversation for the FBI. But then it gets even worse for Ross, as at that same meeting he also handed over the drugs to be planted. Can you say busted? Ross is now in federal custody, and has so far refused the Missouri Republican Party’s request that he drop out of the race. Stay tuned on this one, as November is just a handful of weeks away.
