Colorado Funeral Home Owners Hid 190 Corpses, No Cremation

COLORADO FUNERAL HOME OWNING COUPLE HID 190 BODIES IN A BUILDING THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO CREMATE

I’ve always heard that the funeral business was more crooked political fundraising in the Bible Belt.  And if you’ve ever had to engage planning a funeral for someone, you know all about the extra fees, hidden charges, and the wretched service that you may have gotten despite getting fleeced.  Pretty much every aspect is insanely expensive, from headstones to coffins to urns for your loved one’s cremated remains.  But speaking of cremation (and damnation), can you imagine if you paid to have a loved one’s remains cremated, only to learn after supposedly spreading their ashes that their body was one of 190 corpses hidden in a Colorado building?

INSTEAD OF ASHES, FUNERAL HOME OWNERS GAVE 190 FAMILIES URNS FULLED WITH CONCRETE DUST

But that’s exactly what happened to 190 families who patronized the Colorado Springs’ Return to Nature Funeral Home.  The owners Jon and Carie Hallford charged 190 families for cremation services but didn’t deliver.  Well, they delivered concrete dust to the 190 families and told them they were their loved ones’ remains.  And who thinks to pay for a forensic lab to make sure you’re spreading your mother’s ashes, and not concrete dust?  No one.  Because no one would ever think anyone could be so monstrous as to charge for cremation, hand the family an urn filled with concrete dust, and then hide the body in a bug infested building.

HORRIBLE CRIMES DISCOVERED WHEN INVESTIGATORS CHECKED BUILDING FOR “AWFUL SMELL”

But the owners of this funeral home did just that, 190 times.  The couple got busted back in 2022, when the “horrible odor” emanating from the building attracted investigators who made the awful discovery.  It literally took a team in hazmat suits to handle the remains before the building was destroyed.  Now 190 families have to re-engage mourning their passed loved ones after their respective remains were finally, actually, cremated.  Jon Hallford, who has already pled guilty to federal fraud charges also faces 191 counts of corpse abuse.

I don’t think he’ll have a good time in prison.
