Apple to Begin Reopening Stores in US, Canada at Last

AFTER 2 MONTHS, APPLE FINALLY REOPENING SOME STORES IN US AND CANADA

So I’m actually surprised it took this long.  Reopening.  Apple certainly isn’t what I would call a necessary thing to have open, like a supermarket or health clinic.  But I’ve remained intensely surprised at how the stores have simply been totally… closed.  Like, for weeks now.  Just think about it.  How many places can you order something ahead of time, then pick it up curbside?  Yeah, I know.  A bunch.  I was using Barnes & Noble early on in the lockdown.  But Apple?  Not at all.  And to be perfectly honest, I’ve been wondering why.  But Apple is finally about to reopen some of their stores in the US and Canada.

WHY DID REOPENING TAKE SO LONG?  APPLE, THAT’S A DAMN FINE QUESTION

So why now?  Well, not because it’s safe to, in the US or Canada.  That’s for sure.  But Apple surely feels some safe cover with half of the US in various stages of relaxing their lockdown rules.  And despite the truly mountainous heaps of cash Apple has overseas, they can certainly weather some business down time.  But just like the film business, Apple rolls out new products on a schedule.  And it’s way, way behind.  So Apple clearly needs be reopening to test the waters on how this will work in terms of safety as well as sales.

REOPENING INCLUDES FACE MASKS, SOCIAL DISTANCING, TEMPERATURE CHECKS AND CURBSIDE PICKUP

Apple closed all its US stores way, way back on March 13th.  But now, two months later, they are reopening 48 stores across both Canada and the United States.    Sure, they’ll obviously have some rules.  Like, limits on customers inside at one time.  Oh, and masks.  You have to wear a mask.  That’s kind of an issue, depending where you are.  You also have to practice social distancing in the stores as well.  But first of all, you have to answer some health questions and Apple will take your temperature before you can even go in.  Still sound too scary?  No worries, because you will finally be able to do curbside pickup at an open Apple store.

And no, I still have no idea why curbside took so damn long.  Like I said, Apple has a lot of cash to weather this pandemic crisis.
