Mexican Made World Record 3-Ton Guacamole

MEXICO TAKES BACK GUACAMOLE WORLD RECORD

Do you love guacamole?  Of course, you do! Everyone loves guac.  Guac tastes good, by itself or in almost everything.  It’s a dip. It’s a filler. Guac is an ingredient.  But most of all, guac is a tasty piece of Mexican culture.  But now, Mexico has taken a piece of the guacamole territory back home.  Mexico managed to break the Guinness Book of World Records for largest batch of guacamole.  A 3-ton world record Mexican made batch of guacamole!

HOLY MOLY BATMAN !  3-TON GUACAMOLE!

That’s 6,000 pounds of guac!  It took 600 student chefs and 400 people in the town of Concepcion de Buenos Aires to make the giant batch of 3-ton guac.  Thousands of people came to enjoy the World Record achievement, but mostly to eat 6,000 pounds of guac.  I wish I had known.  I’d still be there eating.  But many of the guac fans travelled from Guadalajara, the capital city of the Mexican state of Jalisco.

The Guinness Book of World Records had a representative to observe the 3-ton achievement.  They were also there to give recognition of the event to Jalisco’s governor, who was proud to attend.  Bu the guacamole world record was a back drop to an issue of trade between the United States and Mexico.  The US is attempting to negotiate provisions so it’s easier for seasonal growers in the US to file anti-dumping cases against Mexico.

UNITED STATES NEEDS AVOCADOS FROM MEXICO

That sounds like a generic attempt to block competitively priced produce from Mexico.  But avocados are easier to grow in Mexico than in the US, and for more of the year.  But that doesn’t mean Americans should pay that much more.  US restaurant owners and retailers agree that costs would go up.  Avocado growers in Mexico say local US production can’t meet domestic demand.  I tend to agree as Avocados are expensive in the Northeast.

BUY AVOCADOS, MAKE GUACAMOLE, HAVE FUN

In any event, I doubt there is any conflict between low avocado prices and jobs in the US.  But if we can get the prices low enough we could take back the guacamole world record!  Mexican made guac and Mexican grown avocados only make life better.
