DONALD TRUMP FORMALLY, IF NOT PERMANENTLY, WRECKED THE AMERICAN BRAND TODAY
It’s been a really rough time for quite a while now. As an American, I tend to see the accelerating trend of American decline sharply upticking not the night that Al Gore was President-Elect, but by the morning when George W Bush was instead the winner. But really the precipice at the top of the snowball effect of the decline of the American brand, or actual Democracy, was with 8 long years of Ronald Reagan and his trickle down economics, or Reaganomics. The de-regulation of markets really started there, and accelerated with each president that followed, including Clinton, Obama and Biden. But multi-generational international alliances and relationships persisted. And now, at last, it’s safe to acknowledge that Donald Trump has formally wrecked those, and so the American brand, and so American democracy.

TODAY TRUMP PLAYED BULLY AND BUFFOON AT DAVOS, WITH THREATS AND INSULTS TO ALLIES
We can bandy and verbally brawl over the details of if, how or why my assertion is true. But in Davos today Donald Trump managed to play the bully and the absolute fool as he brazenly insulted what up until now were American allies and friends, and permanently tarnished -if not ruined permanently- the American brand. I also saw earlier today that CNN just confirmed that America has split from the World Health Organization, and the world is still in a Covid pandemic. The modern world has had a few dangerous hinge points in the last 110 years or so. Two of those led to world wars. Several others nearly did. And the chaos Donald Trump has now metastasized into being with no turning back is just such a hinge point, and only below what led to both world wars, for now.

THE AMERICAN BRAND IS EMPTY PROMISES, AS FRIENDS LOOK FOR SECURITY ELSEWHERE
In the last two weeks Canada and Greenland have started preparing response scenarios to American invasion. Now, all of Europe knows that “we the people” won’t curb or stop Donald Trump’s rabid aspirations or actions, and will plan accordingly with new relationships geopolitically, economically and strategically. The crash of that domino falling today is spreading across the globe with deafening echoes, and even if Trump is impeached or suffers a life-ending aneurism tomorrow, the bell has been rung that has changed the world. The American brand is now formally worth almost nothing, and at least 19% of Americans today think Trump is a political messiah.
It’s well past time for Americans to wield their Citizenship for their democracy. It’s suddenly feeling fleeting.
