E-BIKE GANG TEARS UP AFFORDABLE GOLF COURSE IN EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND
It’s Cinco de Mayo, and yet I’m writing about Golf. But it’s a little sad nostalgia, as I used to play golf with my father on this day, back when we lived in short distance of each other. But as soon as I saw this news, I knew I just had to talk about it. For one, it’s a sign of how much things have changed since I last played a round. And it’s all the sadder, because this involves a literal gang of E-Bike vandals who ruined a golf course in Edinburgh, Scotland, the home of origin for the sport. It seems this has become a bit of a problem in England.

BRAID HILL GOLF COURSE HAS BEEN AROUND 136 YEARS, LONG BEFORE E-BIKES WERE EVEN A FANTASY
And I’ve never been to Edinburgh or anywhere in Scotland, and certainly haven’t played golf there, where surely some of my forefathers did. But I’m sure that part of my family line had already left the Hills, as the e-bike gang vandalized course has only been around for 136 years. The poor victimized course is Braid Hills Golf Course. And very recently 15 people on e-bikes literally tore thru the course, in broad daylight, no less. Head Greenskeeper Gary Rodgers called the ordeal, Absolutely heartbreaking.” And from pics of the carnage, I don’t blame him.

HOPEFULLY DEER CAMERAS WILL CATCH THESE E-BIKE VANDALS AND STOP THEM FOR THE GREATER GOOD
It seems this has been a growing scourge in England, as just last week this or another e-bike gang tore up all 18 greens at Bootle Golf Course in Merseyside. And then there’s another course near Braid Hills that’s been hit as well. But despite the upsetting news, the local golf community is banding together, as another course in the area has offered to help repair the damage. That’s good to hear, as Braid Hills is not a rich man’s course, and is accessible to most amateur golfers. Well, if they can make their way to Edinburgh, of course.
But this e-bike gang clearly won’t stop until they’re caught. Hopefully, deer cameras or even hidden surveillance cameras will soon do them in, right as golf season is about to begin.
