HEBER CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT AI TURNS BODY CAM FOOTAGE INTO POLICE REPORTS, COPS INTO FROGS
Yes, a frog. Clearly AI doesn’t even have the common sense (or data feeds) to know that if it’s going to make the mistake of saying that a cop turned into anything, the obvious answer is a pig. The not actually a frog cop AI police report was generated by Draft One, one of two AI programs the Heber City Police Department uses to generate police reports based on feeds from body cam footage last month. So how could that possibly (or factually, duh) happen? According to Sgt. Rick Keel, “the body cam software and the AI report writing software picked up on the movie that was playing in the background, which happened to be ‘The Princess and the Frog. That’s when we learned the importance of correcting these AI-generated reports.”

PRESUMABLY, HEBER CITY IS REVIEWING ALL POLICE REPORTS WRITTEN BY AI, LIKE ALL OF THEM?
That last sentence is kind of priceless. That’s when you realized? When an official police report says a cop turned into a frog? I sincerely hope they are reviewing however many hundreds of police reports that are in the official record of body cam footage for Heber City police. Who knows what else might be in those? But as for it being a weird time, consider how it’s even weirder right now that we are merely in the inception phase of AI use. It’s actually normal that a cop turned into a frog, if briefly, in Utah. But if that’s normal, you might want to consider how easy it would be for normal to become truly, pervasively bizarre.
Or even apocalyptical. Maybe take a peek at that Skynet explainer above….
