BECAUSE OF DONALD TRUMP, CANADIAN SALES OF JACK DANIELS HAVE PLUMMETED 62%
Did people in Canada suddenly become a majority of teetotalers? That would be one explanation for the sudden drop in sales of Jack Daniels, the bourbon import from the United States. And while that would indicate a major improvement in the health of a lot of Canadians, they are apparently still drinking like fish. But not in American waters. But they’re willing to drink from the various “waters” of almost everyone else. Well, except maybe Israel, though Israel only has pretty small, boutique spirit esports. And yes, that’s a pun. But really, the Canadian sales of Jack Daniels have plummeted because of Donald Trump. By 62%!
AMERICA’S “51ST STATE” IS MOVING AWAY FAST FROM EVERYTHING AMERICAN ON THE SHELF
You probably already figured that was the case. Canada, you may have heard, isn’t too pleased with being the “51st” state, the tacit and direct threats of invasion or annexation, or pretty much anything having to do with Donald Trump. Let’s not forget the Orange One’s insane tariffs and trade wars against America’s longtime allies. So sales of American goods have all suffered major drops north of the border. But an American staple like the Tennessee isn’t immune. Just the fact that it’s so intrinsically American makes it even less popular, to the tune of 62% less sales, which is pretty much a staggering figure.

AMERICA’S BRAND IN CANADA IS NOW DONALD TRUMP, AND WILL BE FOR YEARS TO COME
And it’s not going to get better anytime soon, for Jack Daniels or any other American spirit or product. And the more identifiable the product is as American, the worse it will be. Some might hope that a recent court ruling that Trump’s tariffs aren’t legal would help. But regardless of what courts (meaning, really, the US Supreme Court) ultimately decide about the tariffs, the American brand has been damaged for at least a generation, if not longer. Donald Trump could retire from office today and it wouldn’t matter; the Canadien perspective now associates the American brand (all brands) as Donald Trump.
Maybe here in the US this will mean some discounts on Jack Daniels. But I doubt it.
