SANITY AT LAST? A NEW BILL IDEA COULD FINALLY END THE THREAT OF GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWNS FOREVER
It’s pretty appalling to me at this point that the idea of political gridlock in the form of economic suicide has become the norm in America’s Beltway. I’m talking, of course, about the constant threat of government shutdowns when a Democrat is in the White House. This time, that means Joe Biden. And this now reflexive move by House Republicans has become, simply, normal. It’s political hostage taking of the worst sort imaginable, and has literally now been part of the way things (don’t) work in American politics for decades now. And yet there may be some light at the end of the tunnel, with a new bill idea that could end the threat of government shutdowns, finally and forever.

THREATS OF GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWNS ARE DAMAGING, BUT THE REALITY WOULD BE CALAMITOUS
Just two days ago on Friday, members of both the Senate and House started circulating a letter calling for new legislation that would create the automatic funding of the United States government beyond the spending deadlines, like the current End of Days on September 30th. If this protection from government shutdowns becomes reality, the threat of definite economic calamity in America and the almost certain cascade effect negatively across the world as well, will be gone. I am extremely hopeful this happens, as the idea of threatening the destruction of the country’s economy to ensure ultra-crazy conservative policies has already done damage over recent decades.

TEA PARTY, MAGA OR WHATEVER CAN’T HELP BUT HOLD A GUN TO AMERICA’S HEAD EVERY FEW YEARS
If more government shutdowns happen (ever again), at best we’re looking at the furloughs of over 100,000 federal employees for days or even weeks. That means none of their work gets done, and it means they can’t pay their bills or feed their families. At worst, we’re talking about defaulting on American debt, the actual end of the American Dollar’s international relevance, and a cascade of market spirals the likes of which the world hasn’t ever seen, which could take lifetimes to recover from; if ever at all. So let’s all hope that some form of new legislation becomes a reality, and we can find some reason to worry less about the American Tea Party. Or MAGA, whatever you want to call them these days.
