Barbra Streisand Has a Fabulous Basement Mall at Home

TALENT ICON BARBRA STREISAND MAKES MY HEART BEAT FAST

Barbra Streisand is a talented icon who has worked hard to be the fabulous star that she is. With stardom often comes huge amounts of wealth.  Which she undoubtedly has.  But she has a mall in her basement, people.  And it’s to die for.  My hobby is shopping, getting manicures and reading the latest how-to-feel books while nibbling on a fresh donut and sipping a black coffee.  My how-to-feel books do not cover owning my own mall inside my own home.  I would need a therapist to guide me through that fantasy.  I don’t even know what to think if I was ever invited down to her basement mall.  In another context that would sound very creepy and inappropriate.  But seeing as we are talking about basement malls, it’s very appropriate. Her basement mall has everything a little boy or girl, well depending on the boy that you are, imaginable.

SHE HAS A FABULOUS MALL IN HER BASEMENT

People have joked about what would it be like if someone was an out of work actor and down on their luck, but getting a job as the security guard to mind Barbra’s mall.  I would drop the world to mind her mall.  In. a. heartbeat!  I mean, I knew she was fabulous, but I didn’t know she was this fabulous.  She’s this fabulous, people!  She decided that instead of just storing her things in the basement, she would put her magnificent things on display. Harper’s Bazaar interviewed Streisand years ago and the basement mall came up.  She further discusses the building of her mall in her book My Passion for Design.  It’s a  book I’ve read a million times.  I tuck it under my pillow and dream of Yentl.

BASEMENT MALL LOOKS LIKE THE TURN OF THE CENTURY AMAZINGNESS

Her storefronts are poetically laid out and are composed of fabulous ideas such as: a doll shop, a costume shop (oh baby!), an actual you can buy candy … candy store.  The mall looks like a turn of a century street (not this century, the last!).  And it’s my latest obsession.  So if this is your kind of fabulous, you know what to dream for, too.
