Apple Tells Jon Stewart to Back Off China, AI; Stewart Walks

APPLE TELLS JON STEWART NOT TO COVER AI OR CHINA; JON STEWART WALKS AWAY FROM SHOW

I still really like Jon Stewart.  For too many years when Dubya was president, Stewart’s hosting of a certain comedy channel show felt like a brief relief from actual fake news, and with laughter.  In fact, people who watched the Daily Show back then were better informed than people who watched any network cable news shows.  Ah, those were the days.  So anyway, I still like Jon Stewart, though I haven’t seen a single episode of his show on Apple, The Problem.  But there’s a problem with The Problem, as Apple told Stewart to back off a host of topics involving China and AI.  In response, Stewart has walked away.

APPLE HAS AN INTEREST IN AI, OBVIOUSLY, AND MOST OF ITS PRODUCTS ARE MADE IN CHINA

Isn’t that sad?  I get it, in part.  Apple is the biggest company on the planet.  So they must have a host of projects that involve AI that might make people uncomfortable for the future.  Well, if people knew about it, anyway.  And, there’s the little fact that the vast majority of Apple products are…. made in China.  So you can see how Apple might be a little nervous about producing a show that informs viewers of things that might affect their bottom line.  Well, and their supply chain, too.  But still, it’s pretty sad to hear.

APPLE TOLD JON STEWART THEY WOULD CANCEL SHOW IF HE DIDN’T “ALIGN” HIMSELF WITH THEIR INTERESTS

So The Problem is essentially over, because Apple told Stewart not to talk about AI or China and he walked away instead of refusing and having Apple cancel his show.  Apple had told Stewart that he and his team on the show needed to be “aligned” with Apple’s views on certain topics (AI and China).  And yes, reports say that Apple said it would cancel his show if he didn’t get “aligned.”  So I’m pretty disappointed, to say the least.  I’m even writing this on an Apple laptop made in China, to boot.  For now, I’ll have to figure out a way to watch The Problem without forking over any more money to the fruity Goliath.

Especially before they design AI that makes it impossible for me to do so.
