Rich Yankee Trophy Hunter Killed By Prey On Safari

A RICH YANKEE TROPHY HUNTER PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE ON SAFARI WHEN HIS PREY KILLED HIM INSTANTLY

I can’t say that I’m much of a fan of hunting.  But I can say that there is a long tradition that involves skill and patience for those who hunt to put food on the table.  Yet as a child I still balked at even those hunters who had mounted heads adorning their walls.  But even that is better than trophy hunting, which means it’s all about those decorations and the supposed pride involved with having them.  Because let’s be honest, it doesn’t take any skill to pull the trigger of a large caliber weapon when you’re paying to hunt, like on a safari.  But even then, there’s still at leas the element of danger in the wild.  And one rich Yankee hunter just found out the hard way when he was killed by his prey.

A GIANT CAPE BUFFALO, AKA THE “BLACK DEATH,” GORED RICH YANKEE HUNTER AT HIGH SPEED

The rich Yankee here is, or was, the 52-year-old Asher Watkins.  Watkins was the kind of hunter I could never like or respect, as he enjoyed bragging about killing thousands of doves in only 3 days.  I’m guessing skill wasn’t a factor there, nor was dinner put on the table as a result.  But this rich yankee clearly paid for the wrong exotic safari, and Karma reared its absolute head in the form of a Cape Buffalo when it gored him to death.  Not surprisingly, the Cape Buffalo has the nickname of the “Black Death.”  But this prey seemed to want to abstain from being man’s social Viagra as wall decoration.

RICH YANKEE HAD NO CHANCE WITH 2,600 POUNDS OF CHARGING FURY WITH 4-FOOT HORNS

The rich Yankee was tracking one particular Cape Buffalo at the Bambisana concession, which is the Limpopo Province of South Africa.  But the 1,600 pound bull got the jump on Watkins and charged him at 35 mph, and the sudden contact killed the rich Yankee pretty much in an instant.  I can’t imagine such an animal running at me, especially as a full grown specimen is 5’6″ tall with 4 foot long horns.  Then again, I don’t go trophy hunting and I’m not a touron.  But these beasts maim and kill several hunters every year and are “known to charge unprovoked.”  But I’d say hunting such an animal is pretty provocative, as this rich Yankee found out the hard way.
