General Mills Makes Progresso Soup Drops, Or Chicken Soup Hard Candy

NOT A JOKE, GENERAL MILLS TO RELEASE PROGRESSO SOUP DROPS, OR CHICKEN SOUP HARD CANDY

Sometimes, companies announce a product release and you initially assume that it simply has to be some kind of joke.  And for me this was definitely one of those times.  Because who would ever think that the world needed, or even wanted, some kind of chicken soup hard candy?  But apparently, at least one of those things is true.  Because General Mills has announced the release of Progresso Soup Drops, which is literally a hard candy that tastes like chicken soup.  I don’t find that too appealing, myself.  But I’m one of the few who doesn’t like eating real chicken soup.

SOUP DROPS WILL TASTE JUST LIKE YOUR FAVORITE CHICKEN SOUP, AND IT COMES IN A CAN

But everyone I know swears by the magical properties in chicken soup.  So maybe there is actually a market for this.  Well, besides the fact that January is National Soup Month.  Maybe you’ve got a cold (or the more than pesky flu hitting school kids and NBA players), and even the very flavor of chicken soup, delivered in the form of a hard candy, is enough to make you feel better.  That could be chicken soup placebo.  But I’m not the one to ask about the merits.  Yet if you’re interested, you can certainly find this product if you so please.  And it comes, of course, in what would otherwise be a soup can.

“SOUP YOU CAN SUCK ON” COULD BE A LARK, BUT SOUP DROPS MAY REALLY HAVE A MARKET

Or maybe you just want this in your office, sitting there inviting conversation better than the can of “Whup Ass.”  Because the can literally says, “Soup You Can Suck On.”  I’m pretty sure, in a professional sense, this can’t offend anyone regardless of pronoun preference or political affiliation.  They’re certainly safer than the foulest hard candy I’ve ever had (or will ever have).  Those were made by BonBon, out of Denmark.  They were called “Hundeprutter,” or Dog Farts.  Truly the most disgusting thing I’ve ever had, and that’s impressive.  Yet I keep feeling curious about these Soup Drops; I may just have to know what these actually taste like for myself.

Besides, my can of “Whup Ass” is looking lonely all by itself in my office.
