WOMAN DRIVER SUSTAINED NO INJURIES, BUT WAS COVERED IN GLASS AND CAT GUTS
Fortunately, 28-year-old Melissa Schlarb wasn’t hurt, either by the cat with broken glass, or by losing control of her car. She was driving to work along a highway near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in western North Carolina last November and saw a bald eagle flying above. She said, “I’m not used to seeing them there, and I was like ‘Wow, that’s amazing. I realized it had something with it. Once I realized it was a cat that it had, it barely had a hold on it, it dropped it right on my windshield. It sounded like a bomb went off.” Who wouldn’t lose their mind if this happened to them?

FORTUNATELY ANOTHER DRIVER SAW THE WHOLE BALD EAGLE DROPPING DEAD CAT ORDEAL
Fortunately, a man driving behind her saw the whole thing and pulled over to help. Schlarb then called 911 to report the incident. She told dispatch, “You may not believe me, but I just had a bald eagle drop a cat through my windshield. It absolutely shattered my windshield.” The dispatcher let out a laugh and replied, “OK. I do believe you, honestly. Oh my goodness. Let’s see. I’ve heard crazier.” If there’s crazier than that, I’m not sure I want to know. But experts say the cat was likely scavenged by the bald eagle and it lost its grip. North Carolina now has more than 200 nesting pairs of the American iconic bird.
Local cats might want to take cover. Well, and North Carolina drivers, too. You can hear the crazy 911 call here:
