Hotels in Venice Hand Out Water Guns Because of Crazy Seagull Problem

ROMANCE IN VENICE NOW MEANS WATER GUNS TO HANDLE CRAZY SEAGULL PROBLEM

Venice, Italy.  One of the places people think of when they think about that romantic location that would be perfect to go visit as a couple.  Taking rides on the water to museums, restaurants and the like.  We’ve all seen various iterations of this in movies over the years.  But we’ve also seen pictures of squares filled with birds.  Lots and lots of birds.  Pigeons reside there and are an endless source of poo, everywhere.  But I wasn’t familiar with how much of a crazy seagull problem Venice has.  Evidently, it’s so bad that hotels there are handing out water guns to guests to defend themselves!

VENICE HOTELS NOW HANDING OUT ORANGE WATER GUNS TO GUESTS ALONG WITH ROOM KEYS

Sounds crazy, I know.  But if you go to Venice and go to check into your (romantic!) hotel, you won’t just receive the keys to your room.  You’ll also get strong, orange plastic water guns, too.  Because these crazy seagulls have learned well and good that there is food for them to find and steal at the many, many outdoor dining tables in town.  Just picture that romantic scene you always wanted, having dinner with that special someone.  And then a seagull flies down between you and grabs that swordfish steak off your plate and from under your very fork.

CRAZY SEAGULLS WILL STEAL THE FOOD OUTOF YOUR HAND, BUT WATER GUNS SCARE THEM

Or, maybe they momentarily blind you with their wings as they grab food from your or your parter’s hands!  Because yes, the crazy seagull problem is just that bad.  As you can easily imagine, perfect cocktails end up lost, with the fancy glassware shattered on the ground.  And yes, that could also be dangerous for you, too.  So those bright orange water guns are the answer for now.  You won’t even have to use them!  Because seagulls learn quick.  If they even see them, they know to fear them and will keep away.

But once this stops working, and it will, Venice will have to bring in falcons, sonics and anything else they can think of to deter these crazy seagulls.  Ah, romance.
