MRS. MACRON WILL PROVE SHE’S A WOMAN FOR HER DEFAMATION LAWSUIT AGAINST CANDACE OWENS
The Statue of Liberty is looking mighty uncomfortable the last few decades, with how her home country is pursuing liberty these days: Liberty for Me, But not for Thee. I’ll let you decipher your own meaning from that. But what isn’t even slightly nebulous is how strained relations have become between historic allies, the United States and France (which gifted the U.S. with Lady Liberty). For me, that strain began with Freedom Fries back in 2003, when conservatives mocked France for not supporting the Western invasion of Iraq. But the strain has only worsened with the ascendancy of MAGA. Yet the most embarrassing strain now is how Mrs. Macron will scientifically prove she’s a woman in preparation to sue…. Candace Owens.

And yes, that does sound pretty strange put so simply. But Candace Owens has taken Freedom Fries to amazingly insulting heights, using her media bullhorn quite a number of times to claim that Birgitte Macron, wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, was actually born a man. At first blush it’s simply ridiculous as an insult. But to repeat it several times as a media figure is beyond salacious; it is defamatory. And Mr. and Mrs. Macron now consider it a matter of honor to respond on the record, with scientific documentation of the latter’s female gender and a lawsuit against Owens.

Candace Owens, for her part, says she believes her claims are true, and also without any sense of irony that there’s nothing more American than free speech. In other words, her defamatory opinion is a liberty that, ah, Trump’s anyone else’s. Perhaps you are sensing the first layer of the onion “For Me But Not for Thee?” But regardless, this is happening: the head of state for a longtime American ally is providing literal evidence of his spouse’s gender as a woman as a step to sue Candace Owens, a prominent rightwing American media figure.
