ICE AGENTS ARREST A COUPLE IN ILLINOIS, LEAVING THEIR TODDLER ABANDONED IN THE BACKSEAT
Another day, another ICE story. And while many of these days and many of these stories have been outrageous and appalling, this one hits hard in a way I wasn’t expecting. It’s the story of yet another family where the kids have been separated from their parents. For anyone who’s been paying attention for the last several years, they already know that the cruelty is the point. But this time the combination of cruelty, incompetence and dehumanization by ICE is simply breathtaking. This time, ICE agents arrested a couple in their car, took them away, and left their toddler abandoned in the backseat.

ICE AGENTS LITERALLY DROVE AWAY AFTER ARRESTING PARENTS AS TODDLER CRIED
Just take that in. ICE agents arrested parents who were in the front seat of their car, and abandoned the toddler in the backseat. And before you ask, no, the toddler wasn’t invisible, hidden or out of any kind of line of sight. But again, just think about being that parent. Would you be silent as you are handcuffed and taken away from your toddler child? Hell no. You’d be making damn sure at high vocal volume that any and everyone knew your young child was in the backseat of the car. Now, just think about the cruel, racist, fascist attitudes of these ICE agents who then drove away, with no consideration for the toddler.

ICE HAS YET TO COMMENT AS TO WHETHER THIS EVEN HAPPENED OR NOT, NO DENIAL OR CONFIRMATION
Where did this happen? Aurora, Illinois. Did anyone see it? Yes, people saw it, and are witnesses to the arrest, abandonment, and the toddler left alone crying and confused in the backseat of the car. Those witnesses then intervened and got the toddler out of the car for reassurance before local police or social services even arrived. But before you ask, no, ICE itself has neither confirmed or denied this happened. I find that kind of telling, as usually their lack of decency and shame usually includes instant obfuscation in a press release or on social media. But this time? Silence. They know this one is a really bad look.
Even for ICE. Local authorities still don’t even know the identities of the toddler’s arrested parents.
