WILLIE NELSON SAVES THE LIVES OF 70 HORSES, TAKES’EM HOME TO HIS RANCH, LUCK

Willie Nelson is a true rock star.  But sure, I totally know he made his bones being an amazing Country music singer, writer and all-American icon.  But I mean rock star in that huge, morally amazing way.  Willie says it like it is and never backs down.  He also smoked Snoop Dog out, which makes him a hero for the ages anyway.  But besides being cool, Willie has a huge heart.  So fortunately for 70 horses whose ends were about to happen in slaughterhouses, that translated into huge luck, and more life, for them.  Luck, of course, is the name of Willie’s very own ranch.

WILLIE’S BEEN SAVING HORSES FROM THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE FOR YEARS, LUCK IS THERE FOR A REASON

Willie’s ranch Luck is a pretty large property down in Texas. Well, actually, by Texas standards it’s not all that large at only 700 acres.  But that’s more than enough to make a home for a whole bunch of horses. 70 more is not too many by any means.  So at their new Luck(y) home, these horses have a place to roam around and two meals a day.  But in horse terms, we call that heaven on Earth.  Of course.  But Willie named his ranch luck because he’s been on a mission. It’s a mission to save horses like these for several years now.

But that’s because Willie says, “When you’re here, you’re in Luck, and when you’re not, you’re out of Luck.”  So he made sure to make his own luck and call it home. Yet he also wanted it to be a home for horses destined for the humane bolt.  But Willie is now 87 years old.  So since he tours for roughly 200 days at a time, it’s easy to see why he’d want a refuge he could share.  But let’s not forget Willie’s other program that’s been around for decades now.  Remember Farm Aid?  Sure, there aren’t as many American farmers to support these days (thanks, Reaganomics and Big Agro).  But Willie continues to support those he can.  So let’s all be thankful we’ve still got Americans like Willie Nelson who stand up, over and over again, for all the right reasons. And, he smoked out Snoop Dog.
