HILLBILLY HORROR STORY, AS WOMAN MURDERS BOYFRIEND TO THEN MARRY HER FATHER
So West Virginia is a Wild and Wonderful place. It says just that on welcoming road signs on the state line. But this story is so much more than wild. And it’s got nothing to do with wonderful in any regard. You know that noise a turntable makes when something happens and the needle scratches over, everyone stops, too? Well, this is like that, except I don’t know how you get the comparable effect from a banjo. And this is a banjo scenario. A West Virginia woman is gonna be in jail a long time. Why? She killed her boyfriend in 2019. Why? So she could marry her biological father. The woman’s name is Amanda Naylor McClure.

See? Told you the banjo was in shock, too. At the time Amanda was 31 years old when she killed her then boyfriend, John Thomas McGuire, 38. Amanda and John had been dating for a while from when they both lived in Minnesota. But everything went wrong when Amanda reconnected with the biological father, Larry McClure. He was living in West Virginia after his release from prison. He had been serving time as a sex offender. Amanda had grown up with adoptive parents and was estranged from her father. But they didn’t just reconnect. They had a sexual, incestuous relationship. And, he was jealous of his daughter’s boyfriend.

So why murder the boyfriend? Because her lover father didn’t want her with anyone else, even in West Virginia. But the banjo is still in a state of shock. Because they didn’t just murder the man. They tortured him for two days first. First, Larry hit John in the head with a bottle on Valentine’s Day. Really. Then they tied him up. The next two days were a horror. They injected him with crystal meth and finally strangled him with a garbage bag. Then they buried him Six days later, they dug him up, only to dismember him and rebury him again. Larry will get life without parole for the murder. Amanda? 40 years. Maybe the banjo will play again by then.
