WHERE IN THE WORLD IS THE BEST PLACE(S) TO BUILD AN APOCALYPSE BUNKER?
The end is nigh when it comes to planning ahead for the End of Days, aka the Apocalypse. And according to pulp fiction, it’s hard to guess what kind it’s going to be. Zombies? Asteroid? Nuclear winter? Bird flu (aka some kind of Covid)? A worldwide sperm collapse? And hey, that last one is actually a potential. But there are many more things that could trigger a veritable apocalypse. So many, in fact, that it’s getting to be pretty normal for billionaires to invest in an apocalypse bunker. You know, so they can survive when everyone else dies painfully. But survive in luxurious style, of course. But where’s the best place for a 9-figure-aire to make that investment?

THE LUXURY APLOCALYPSE BUNKER IN NEW ZEALAND MAY HAVE BEEN A BAD BET
Well, not just anywhere. But logically, nukes should be at the top of the logical list of what we have to fear, given how climate change is accelerating and making natural resources more of a bone to fight over. And Mark Lynas wrote a book, Six Minutes to Winter: Nuclear War and How to Avoid It, offering some strategic advice. And, well, some places are better than others when it comes to having your luxury apocalypse bunker in terms of survival. New Zealand, it turns out, was a bad bet for all those rich folks who bought citizenship for a place to escape to. If there’s a nuclear winter, 68% of everyone there will be dead in two years.

But by the numbers, it’s still a better investment than staying in Russia, the U.S., the UAE, England, Canada, France, Germany and Switzerland, where 98 to 100% of everyone will die. But I must say Switzerland surprises me, as the country is the most bunkered place in all the world. So where else? If you want to hedge your bets, build one apocalypse bunker in New Zealand, and another in one of Iceland, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Haiti and Australia. Good luck with Iceland, as they simply don’t sell visas. But Argentina is practically fee if you’re rich already.
So don’t be a zombie or a clicker, and make sure you locate your luxuriously exclusive apocalypse bunker properly.
