University Library Evacuated For Gym Socks Smell

SMELL OF GYM SOCKS, SO UNIVERSITY LIBRAY EVACUATED

So what is it with libraries and weird smells?  Is it because people are using less social media, or media in general?  Can they suddenly smell more?  Or is it just something weird about libraries?  So the answer there is nebulous.  But I don’t think we’ll have this problem in too many places outside of Australia.  Well, for now at least.  So anyway, firefighters responded to a call at Australia’s University of Canberra’s library.  Someone reported a very “strong smell of gas.”  Others said it was like gym socks.  So as you can imagine, firefighters got there pretty quick.  But they evacuated the building to be sure everything was safe.

COLLEGE STUDENTS WAITED, BUT THE DRAMA WAS ALL OVER A FRUITY STINK

So you can likely picture the scene even if you haven’t gone to college.  You’ve got hundreds of students leaving the building,  all within minutes.  Everyone is nervous, maybe a little excited.  Something is happening, right?  Everyone’s talking, texting, and the news of something happening at the library spreads in the nether down under.  So that process quickly got boring, as the mysterious wait lasted an entire hour.  Why?  That’s how long it took firefighters to search the entire building, with total thoroughness.  Where’s the gas?  Where’s the smelly socks?  I remember being a young college student.  This close to finals, I’d be getting pissed about the lost work time. And if there’s the smell of gym socks, there’d better be a Lassie character (look it up).

Take note, Australian undergrads.  There’s a reason the durian is not allowed in hotels or public transportation in all of Asia.  This is the reason….
