We have all at least heard of Judge Judy. Even if you are one of the increasingly millions of folks who have left cable, you know who she is. She has been around for some time now. She has exhorted, insulted, cajoled and always ruled over her guests. But now Judge Judy’s gavel is solid gold. Of all the TV hosts who helm their own shows, Judge Judy is now at the top. Last year, she made $147 million before tax. Known outside her role on TV, Judy Sheindlin is top dollar dog in the only market she needs. She takes the $147M cake, and she eats it too!

Judge Judy described her mindset last year, saying, “Many people, as I did in the beginning, get stuck with a job they don’t really like. … If you’re not doing something that you love to do, find something that you love to do, because it will make your whole life different.” She said that at the Forbes Women’s Summit! Which seems totally appropriate, considering her professional footprint and just how large it’s grown. In her show’s 23rd season, Judy gets more than 10 million viewers, every single day.

So she is also now on another big national list. She’s the 48th richest self-made woman in the United States. So how did she get there? Well, besides her amazing longevity and popularity, she has made some savvy deals of late. Last year, she sold the rights to her show’s 5,200 episode cache. But that also includes all future episodes as well. So can you say snowball? That deal alone is worth roughly $100 million. But of course she also gets a paycheck just for making her show. And let’s not forget that she produces the show Hot Bench, as well. Judge Judy just may be the best bench player, ever.
