FAKE YELP REVIEWS BRUTALIZE TRUMP HOTEL REVIEWS
Sometimes it’s better to be seen and not heard. But Trump’s shith0le comment about countries in Africa, Haiti and El Salvador continues to make waves. Many people in and out of the United States expressed immediate outrage over the offensive comments. But that outrage seems to be lasting. And one place people’s outrage was reflected was on Yelp. Yelp users responded to Trump by leaving one-star reviews on Trump hotels. Of course, they described the hotels as shith0le peoperties with shith0le services.

But the fake reviews had a big, if temporary, impact. The luxury Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC felt the burn in a big way. For a short time, the fake reviews came in such numbers that the hotel’s rating went down to two stars. Normally, Yelp has it rated at four or five stars! Many of the fake reviews of Trump hotels were simply hysterical.

A reviewer named Matthew O. from Columbus Ohio wrote, “Absolute shithole. All of the white bed sheets had two holes cut in them. The showers were golden. The steaks were way over cooked and slathered in ketchup. I asked for bottled water instead I was force-fed a bucket of chicken and 8 Diet Cokes. This place is such a shithole.”

Another gem was from David K. out of San Antonio, TX. He called it, “A real shithole. Owned by a malignant racist. Pee on the sheets. KKK in the lobby. Russians all over the place. Sad! Steaks over cooked with ketchup. Bibles in the rooms are missing lots of commandments. Mini-bar only has diet coke and Big Macs. Fourth rate shithole.”

But it wasn’t just the DC hotel that felt the shith0le burn. Users on Yelp went after Trump hotels in New York City, Chicago, Las Vegas and several other locations. Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago: “The pillows with Putin’s image on them were off-putting to say the least,” was one nice burn from Mike S. in Chicago. Next up is Trump International Hotel Las Vegas: “Bad experience. Excuse my French, but the place is a freakin’ sh@thole. They do a pat down on women upon entering building and it’s just an excuse to grab your private parts. wtf?” from Denise M. out of Escondido, CA.

But some artists also got in on the act in the real world as well. The DC hotel was lit up by the multimedia artist, Robin Bell, who projected “Shithole” above the front entrance. But let’s not forget Bell’s cascade of poop emojis that was there too.

But sadly, if understandably, Yelp support has begun what may be a continuing process in monitoring reviews and taking down the fake ones. So the shitst0rm will pause. For now. Or at least, on Yelp. So remember, it’s better to be seen and not heard by Yelp users. But also remember to take a look on Yelp from time to time! So good luck to all the managers of Trump hotels!
