So do you remember that time when you were a toddler and you walked away from your care and wandered around near a highway? No? Imagine that. But that’s exactly what 4 toddlers just might remember when they grow up. That’s because these 4 simply up and walked away from their Louisiana daycare. They walked away, by themselves, and were wandering around near a highway. So that’s the kind of thing that will give parents nightmares, right? But fortunately for these 4 kids, a driver on the highway spotted them and pulled over.

But fortunately for these kids, the passerby didn’t just stop, they picked up the unattended tots and took them back to the daycare. So that’s the good part of this story. But it could have been a massive, devastating series of tragedies. So as you can imagine, the Louisiana Department of Education took action when they heard the news. They immediately revoked the daycare’s license. So what and where was this daycare? It was the Color Wheel Learning Center, located in Prairieville, Louisiana. Stress on the was… Because that daycare is toast, and it should be toast.

So here’s where it gets even better. Perhaps I should have said toast on both sides. These daycare givers had no explanation whatsoever to explain how these toddlers walked away by themselves from their play yard. They certainly couldn’t explain how they ended up by a fence next to a highway nearby. But something like this happened just last October! A 1-year-old opened a gate on their own and wandered into the parking lot. The state then issues a citation for the daycare’s lack of supervision. Clearly, the citation didn’t do much to protect these children.
