Tiff, Slap Drama Leaves Cockpit Empty Mid-flight

PILOTS “TIFF” HAS SLAP AND EMPTY COCKPIT

Flying is safer than driving, people say.  Shoot, even Superman says it, in more than one movie even.  But a recent event on Jet Airways likely left the 324 passengers just a bit nervous about their next “leg” in the air.  Evidently, the pilot and the co-pilot had some kind of tiff, leading the pilot to slap his co-pilot in the face.  What happened to fly the friendly skies?  A lot, it seems.  But both key crew stormed out of the cockpit, leaving it empty, midflight.  And, it was a flight on New Year’s Day!

MID-FLIGHT DRAMA WAS ALL “MISUNDERSTANDING”

So, of course Jet Airways told media that it was all due to a misunderstanding.  No, not a misunderstanding about the reports.  It was a misunderstanding between the pilot and the co-pilot.  Get it?  When the male pilot slapped his female co-pilot in the face it was a misunderstanding.  The co-pilot left the cockpit after the pilot slapped her. Passengers said the co-pilot was very upset by the tiff.  Cabin crew had to convince her to return to the cockpit.  That seems reasonable, doesn’t it?

COCKPIT LEFT EMPTY, PILOTS “DE-ROSTERED” OVER “MISUNDERSTANDING”

But even more disturbing news is that the pilot also left the cockpit at one point. That means the London flight to Mumbai had no one at the controls for a part of the trip.  That’s some misunderstanding, isn’t it?  Jet Airways is obviously conducting an internal investigation into the “misunderstanding.”  Both pilots are now listed as “de-rostered,” pending that investigation’s outcome.  That means neither are flying anything in the interim.

JET AIRWAYS STATEMENTS ARE MISUNDERSTANDABLE, BS

But for some reason, Jet Airways insists on saying the situation was “quickly resolved amicably.”  What does “resolved amicably” even mean?  Do you misunderstand?  I misunderstand.  Anyone want to make bets that we ever learn of the results of the internal investigation?  Nah, me neither.
