Have you ever been licked? Has a dog ever licked you? Did that lick threaten you? Now close your eyes and imagine you are in your favorite spot at home. Maybe you’re on a cozy couch, at your desk or by the sink. A snow-white St. Bernard named Mochi comes into the room. She rubs up against you. She wants your love. You pet her, give her hugs and then she licks you with her very, very long tongue. It’s THE long wet never-ending lick of love. Because from snout to tip her tongue measures a remarkable 7.31 inches, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. That’s a lot of tongue for a fluffy pooch. But she’s a Saint.
BRANDY (NO, NOT THAT BRANDY) HAD THE ORIGINAL LONG TONGUE
Mochi’s owners, Carla and Craig Rickert, adopted the eight-year-old beauty six years ago. Mochi has brought them a lot of joy. She’s a comic relief to them and very funny. Her favorite food is peanut butter. She enjoys licking it. She gives a daily lick of love for peanut butter. And although she currently holds the World record for longest tongue, the longest tongue ever belongs to a boxer named Brandy who passed away in 2002. Her tongue measured a gigantic 17 inches. Imagine if Brandy licked you?

You would think that a dog tongue is pretty dirty compared to a human tongue. Thankfully, humans brush and floss several times a day. It’s commonly found in the saliva of healthy dogs and cats, according to National Geographic. Animals licking is absolutely normal, so don’t be threatened. It’s also healthy, for the animal. However, sudden and excessive licking in cats can signal a medical problem. Sudden and excessive licking by Mochi simply means: peanut butter.
