A FEW STEPS TO BEING SMART
Everybody wants to be smart. And you could be too, if you want to. All you need to do is work at it a little bit more and commit to the idea of being smart. Believe it and you will achieve it. There are a few steps you can do in order to get there! You can examine your online time, time playing board games, what you read and summaries of what you’ve read, to name a few. And nurturing your emotional intelligence will help your process. Being smart just takes a little effort and consistency!
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE ISN’T ALL CRYING
The most important part of your smarts is observing your emotional intelligence. According to Psychology Today, emotional intelligence “…is the ability to identify and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others.” So, for example if you are really incensed, instead of immediately reacting, count your incoming and outgoing breaths to ten. Inhale one, exhale one, inhale two, exhale two. Also, practice kindness and work towards not saying anything you don’t actually mean. Emotional Intelligence is not something you are born with, it is something you learn and foster. If you believe it, you will get there!
MONITOR YOUR SCREEN TIME
Are you addicted to your phone? Every time your phone dings, do you need to take a look at it? What do you look at when you are online? If you think of your phone as your higher self, then how would you use it? Do you play bubble popping games or using a meditation app in order to foster your emotional intelligence? Phones are in our daily lives, so you might as well use them smartly.
BOARD GAME CAFES ARE COOL
Board games typically make you think outside of the box and strategically. They also promote teams and social interaction. Board games can also be extremely entertaining. Some examples of classic board games are Scrabble, Battleship and Dungeons and Dragons. You can also have family night board games or go to a board game café.
BELIEVE IT, SMART FRIENDS MAKE YOU SMARTER
Having smart friends will seriously make you smarter. Why? Because they know stuff you don’t know and that will motivate you to get reading. You can also subscribe to theSkimm. You will receive an email daily summarizing all the crazy, important stuff that’s happening in the world. That way you can stay on top of your news and stay smart around your smart friends.
READ AWESOME STUFF AND TELL PEOPLE ABOUT IT
Start reading books and newspapers. Push yourself to read things you normally wouldn’t read. And then tell people about it. Maybe even your new smart friends! By summarizing your readings and having to recall the material, you are expanding parts of your brain. Being smart is possible as long as you believe it!
