No runway compares to the red carpet at the Oscars, and Gazelle Paulo shares his winners — and losers — from the most glamorous night of the year.

The awards season finally came to an end when the biggest — and most glamorous — runway fashion showdown in the world was in full power mode Sunday night. Nothing is better or bigger than the Oscar red carpet. We all stop to watch the hits and misses of the celebrities; it is not only entertaining, but it is a live gallery of new trends.

Zoe Saldana in Atelier Versace, Keira Knightley in Valentino, Oprah Winfrey in Vera Wang, Jennifer Aniston in Versace, Viola Davis in Zac Posen and Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab all wore nude tones, making it one of the biggest trends of the night. Lopez and Luciana Duvall — Best Supporting Actor nominee Robert Duvall’s wife — in Jad Ghandor stepped on the red carpet wearing almost identical dresses. The only details differentiating the gowns were a thin belt worn by Lopez and Duvall’s dress had a peachier pink tone.

Grand necklaces were also huge Sunday night! I am still gasping over the stunning piece of art showcased by actress Margot Robbie around her flawless Australian neck. The sublime Van Cleef & Arpels necklace — known as the Zip Antique — was a diamonds and sapphires tassel set in 18K yellow gold, a design first commissioned by the Duchess of Windsor in 1938. It has a price tag of $1.5 million. “The necklace is worth more than my life!” Robbie said.

I was extremely happy to see Patricia Arquette looking so gorgeous and correct on the red carpet; her ensemble was designed by her childhood friend Rosetta Getty. When she got on stage to receive her deserved Best Supporting Actress Award for her performance in “Boyhood,” Arquette also used her time to champion women’s rights by saying, “It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all, and equal rights for women in the United States of America.” She will always be remembered in Oscar history for that special moment, and she looked perfect while becoming a part of this privileged gallery.
